Happy Fourth!

We returned from our trip at approximately 10pm the night before the 4th of July. Needless to say, we weren't feeling very celebratory and canceled on all of our invites. Boo hoo.

Our neighbors stopped by to ask us if we would stop in at the BBQ they'd arranged. After some long naps, we stopped by for a bit.

nothing says Summer like watermelon munching!
(Mr. Man woke up with the stomach flu July 5th. Looking back at this picture, you can see it in his eyes)

dancing with Daddy

Maddie was in rare form, choosing to sit near me or on my lap, refusing to talk to anyone. Yes, that was not an error. Maddie did not want to talk. At all. After a little while, a neighborhood friend showed up (she's 9) and Maddie perked right up. After taking her friend inside to show off her "big girl bed," Maddie emerged wearing her tutu and announced to the gathered crowd, "It's time for a show, everybody! David, can you turn on the music, please, so that I might do a performance?"

She shimmied and shook,

pouted and pranced,

somersaulted and sashayed her way through a riveting dance

You had to have been there.

Happy for the freedom to dance,

Becky, Ben, Maddie and Sam

We missed you guys on the 4th! Sorry your road trip took so long! Love that Maddie did a little dance routine for the neighbors. Classic!
